The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will fund a feasibility study that will test Oorja's Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFC) for powering telecommunication towers in South Africa. USTDA has approved a grant of $872,000 to Plessey, a South African telecommunications systems integrator with operations in 27 African countries, for this initiative. The project is the first of its kind for Oorja in the South African telecoms market.
