biochemical process

In a traditional biochemical conversion process, biomass is chemically pretreated and fed to enzymes that liberate the biomass derived sugars. In turn, the resulting sugar-rich stream (hydrolyzate) is fed to organisms that ferment the sugars to fuel precursor molecules.
